Notice to AILD Members that APM will remove Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) on the North shore Monday, June 22nd and Tuesday, June 23rd. APM (Aquatic Plant Management) is a Midwest-based company specializing in the removal and control of aquatic invasive species (AIS), including EWM. They will remove Milfoil by the DASH method, that is Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting. The process uses a pontoon boat equipped with a suction pump that is connected to suction lines. Two or three divers with weighted boots scan the lake bottom and hand pull/vacuum Milfoil back to the boat. GPS mapping from our consultant is used to target the plant colonies generally starting at the end of docks out to a depth of 12 feet or so. The Milfoil will then be hauled to the boat landing trailer for off-site disposal. There are three additional days of professional hand harvesting by APM planned for less populated Milfoil spots elsewhere. A future notice will update you on that. Please avoid boating in or near the work area next week for the divers safety. This will allow work to be completed sooner and keep the District’s cost controlled.
Thank you!
